Polmanter Reception

Another successful commercial project, the new reception building at Polmanter Holiday Park in St Ives shows off a huge vaulted oak frame structure.

The owners of Polmanter are old friends of Tims and wanted to put something special into the new space at the park which was replacing a tired and uninspiring existing shop and reception.

We worked very closely with Koha Architects to design a space with dramatic first impressions. The overhanging roof canopy and fully glazed gable proved particularly challenging given the relevant wind loadings (the building is ontop of a hill in West Cornwall) and required a hidden steel portal frame to stiffen and create resistance to wind.
